Virtual seminar, November 2020
One of the FOHG members, Dr Smathi, was invited a speaker for a Virtual Seminar with the theme of "The Challenge of Antimicrobial Stewardship in the COVID-19 Era".
Teaching trip to Muder Ignacia Hospital (RSMI), February 2019
In late February 2019 a team from FOHG travelled to Soe to teach at Rumah Sakhit Muder Ignacia.
Infection Prevention and Management Trip 2019
The primary focus of this trip was to assess and evaluate Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) and to provide technical support to the Infection Prevention team at Prof Johannes Hospital (PJH).
MNH trip to Nagakeo District 2018
In July 2018 two regular FOHG volunteers and two new volunteers travelled to Nagakeo for training the local midwives and doctors to better manage obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
June 2018 FOHG Trip to Professor Johannes Hospital & Soe
The trip comprised teams in dermatology, oncology, microbiology/infectious diseases, pathology ,pharmacy, and was made up of both scientific laboratory staff, clinicians and nursing.
Multidisciplinary visit to Timor in August 2017
A smaller team of Infectious Diseases lab (TG) and ID clinical programme coordinator (GM) and Social development (DT) visited Kupang in August. DT visited the hospital in Soe and found a clean, efficient and busy clinic. Plans to extend to fulfil the requirements for a class D hospital are under discussion.
Laptop for Sister Rosa
Sister Rosa who is studying dentistry, with the end hope of her being able to work in our the clinic in Soe, has been without the help of a computer to support her studies and work.
FOHG Teaching trip to Soe July 2015
From July 20 to 24 2015 a small team from FOHG underwent teaching of obstetric emergencies in Soe, West Timor.
Sewing initiative
To assist some of the women we have supplied treadle sewing machines, materials and instructors to show best practice in the use of these machines.
Choir and musical group
We were introduced to a group of young men plus their leader who were performing at a high standard of musical talent in the provision of music for various ceremonies, weddings and other celebratory events.
Maternal and Neonatal Ultrasound Project
In developed countries ultrasound is used daily for all manner of diagnosis. With the generous donation of a portable UltraSound machine, it has been possible for FOHG to provide women in Indonesia some of the same opportunities as those in the west.
FOHG trip March 2015
A very busy trip with numerous positives for the ongoing relationship of FOHG and the health providers in NTT with whom we partner…….In the end, hopefully lots of benefits for the people of NTT through sustainable relationships and advocacy.
Pig project
Noting the high level of unemployment and lack of opportunity to work, and with no local finance available Fohg responded to a request to provide 15 farmers with piglets together with the knowledge of, and support to build pig sties. Fund raising from our supporters made the necessary finance available.
